PERSONAL 3D PROJECTS
DINOBOT
2019
Growing up in the 90s, my favorite cartoon was (and still is) Beast Wars. It’s probably the show that got me most interested in pursuing a career in 3D animation. Obviously I needed to create some fan art to show my gratitude. I started this character somewhere around 2015 and have been occasionally updating it over the years, using it as a tool to learn the programs and procedures I don’t usually get to use in my professional life. Speaking of which, I’ll probably be updating the texture and beast mode sculpt in the coming months. Stay tuned.

My good friend and brilliant designer, Chris J.B. Brown, had been working on a personal project for many years called “Life With Death”. I had offered to do some models for it years back and finally got a chance to do a character of his. This is my take on bringing his Character “D” (A retired Death, living the slacker life he never had) into 3-D. Check out CB’s awesome work and pitch package here: cbpencil.com

I could probably talk to you for years about how great Pink Floyd is. A while back I came across Gerald Scarfe’s caricatures of Pink Floyd which appeared in their 1974 tour programme. It’s so wonderfully grotesque yet captures every subtle defining feature of the members of the band, I just had to try making some 3D fan art based on the piece. I couldn’t decide which era I wanted to do so I decided to do a couple. I wanted to get the details as accurate as possible (right down to the era appropriate features on the Black Strat to the type of strap and patch cable). There will be some more pieces to come on the subject, a Roger Waters at the very least is on the way.
